TUESDAY

This week in my artt2372 class we dove deeper into learning more about switches and algorithms! On Tuesday everyone in the class was given a sheet of paper, dice, and a set of vague instructions. Everyone in the class had to be well spaced out; to keep us all from talking amongst ourselves. I had to roll the dice and each time it would land on a certain number I had to write the symbol that went along with it. At first, I thought I might've been doing something wrong because everyone was finishing a lot faster than I was. Since the instructions were so vague there was no way I could have done the Algorithm wrong.  Once everyone finished we put our papers on the board and compared. I noticed that everyone's papers were all so different in unique ways. Some people wrote all over the page, really small, or in order. There were many different varieties which made it striking. After doing that excercise the class went into the computer lab to learn how to photo hack. I really liked learning how to photo hack because it was very hands-on activity. Phtohacking made me get more comfortable with working with technology.

THURSDAY

My experience in class on Thursday was a bit interesting. I learned how to make a switch with a battery holder, copper tape, notecard, a battery, alligator clips, and a light. At first, I was very confident in my skills to make a switch work properly but in my experience that was not the case. I kept looking back in forth at my model compared to everyone else because I was having trouble figuring out what I had done wrong but I couldn't figure it out no matter how hard I tried. Once Dr. Justice came over he mentioned the tiny little detail that I had missed. My light wasn't turning on because the alligator clips were in contact! Once I figured that was the problem it taught me to pay attention to finer detail. After everyone had gotten their switches to work we went to the computer lab to figure out how to make online switches. I was highly interested in making switches so listening to Dr. Justice teach how to make them online was really cool. It involves a lot of steps I learned but it seems that once you get a step down you start to get the hang of it. I've been learning so much in the class and it already taught me that once you learn something there's a bigger picture of what comes next.
